Summer Camp

With the help of Sierra Nevada Journeys and The Nature Conservancy, youth from Reno Housing Authority have the opportunity to attend summer camp at Grizzly Creek Ranch near Portola, Calif. Youth stay at the camp for six days and five nights learning how to fish, build shelters, develop archery skills, experience hands-on environmental science and much more. This incredible opportunity allows youth to experience the great outdoors at no cost to their families. The Helen Close Charitable Foundation generously offers a number of scholarships to RHA youth each summer.

Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program

Sky Tavern, Bobo’s Ski & Board , and RHA partner year after year to offer RHA residents the opportunity to learn to ski and board in the Sierra Nevada at no cost. The program is open entire families, including children ages 4+, to spend time together and experience fun winter activities. Transportation is available!

Scouting

Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. With programs across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure and success. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest values-based youth development organizations, providing programs for young people that build character, citizenship and personal fitness.

Our Youth Activities Partners

The RHA partners with GSSN and the Nevada Area Council to provide locations in our public housing communities for meetings and events. We also partner with many other community organizations to provide our youth access to music, gardening, literacy, art, outdoor events and other enriching activities to build a lifetime of experiences and growth.

Applications for RHA’s 501 (c) (3) subsidiary agencies’ Boards of Directors now available.

The Reno Housing Authority is starting two non-profit subsidiaries.
One of the subsidiaries, Pathways to Prosperity, will provide growth
and self-sufficiency opportunities for low-income Nevadans through
participant-focused pathways, resources, and training that bolster
participants’ quality of life and independence. The other subsidiary,
Truckee Meadows Affordable Housing, will focus on developing
high-quality affordable housing throughout Washoe County. Both
non-profit organizations will complement the mission of RHA.


The Reno Housing Authority is currently recruiting a member of the
public to serve on Pathways to Prosperity’s inaugural board of
directors and a member of the public to serve on Truckee Meadows
Affordable Housing’s initial board of directors. Applications are available below and the due date has been extended to 5pm local time on Friday, July 5th, 2024. Upon review of the applications, if you would like more
