Reno Housing Authority Announces Property Acquisition: New Resident Services Hub to Assist Low-Income Residents

The Reno Housing Authority is proud to announce the acquisition of a new facility at 2287 Oddie Blvd. to be used as a resident services hub. The property, located in Paradise Plaza near Teglia’s Paradise Park, was offered through CIRE Equity as part of a charitable giving campaign and acquired through a competitive process.

With many essential businesses already located in Paradise Plaza, this space is well-positioned to host RHA Workforce Development programs including financial literacy, resume writing, a variety of post-secondary education and other initiatives designed to enrich the lives of adults and youth in RHA’s programs. Once renovations are complete, the building will also house RHA’s senior enrichment programs and have space available for other community partners to work jointly with RHA.

“We envision this space as a true one-stop-shop for clients and community members looking to acquire resources to build independence and self-sufficiency,” says Executive Director Hilary Lopez, Ph.D.

CIRE says they’re excited about the future of this space and the positive impact it will have on countless lives. “At CIRE, we’re always looking for opportunities to create a meaningful impact in the communities we serve,” says Kelly Price. “A chance encounter at a conference paved the way for the RFP process and the subsequent donation of space to RHA.”

In addition, Plenium Builders President Tobin Basta is set to donate his pre-construction expertise including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination in the three design phases. Plenium offered their assistance as a strong community partner because they believe in RHA’s mission.

“RHA does far more than provide affordable housing in the region, and I’m pleased to be able to help them further enhance the lives of clients and extend their economic opportunities,” Basta said. RHA and Plenium’s work begins this spring and continues till summer.

This new space aligns with RHA’s approach of offering assistance and providing a welcoming environment to help people reach their own financial, educational, workforce and family support goals with long-term, structured support.

All RHA Resident Services staff members will relocate to this new location, which is near the current Resident Services office at 1400 Silverada Blvd. The building is expected to open in early 2025.
